Turkish director Yesim Ustaoğlu is featured in the spotlight section of the Austrian film festival Crossing Europe.
The festival that will take place in Linz between April 25-30 is inaugurated with Ustaoglu’s acclaimed film “Tereddüt” (Clair Obscur).
Five feature-length films in total by Yeşim Ustaoğlu are planned for screening in the spotlight with the director present, who will also hold a master class during the festival. The four other films by Ustaoğlu that will be screened during the five-day festival are Araf – Somewhere in Between, Pandora’s Box, Waiting for the Clouds and Journey to the Sun.
Born 1960 in Sarıkamış, Turkey, Yeşim Ustaoğlu worked as an architect and journalist before making several award-winning short films. She had her feature film debut with The Trace in 1994 and received international recognition for Journey To The Sun in 1999. Her fourth film, Pandora’s Box, received the Best Film and Best Actress awards in San Sebastian Film Festival in 2008.
